Cavallo Point Cooking School


Above Farley Bar and next door to the Mariposa Borracha wine-tasting room is the Cavallo Point Cooking School, home to many activities for our Culinary Arts programs. Filled with natural light and top-of-the line culinary equipment, the Cooking School is an intimate place to taste, create and explore.

Local Produce, Seasoned Chefs and Sustainable Cooking Practices
Kelsie Kerr, our Cooking School Director, leads an ever-changing roster of programs and classes in concert with the Bay Area’s treasure trove of small organic farms, artisan producers, vineyards and innovative chefs. All our Culinary Arts experiences are led with a keen eye to seasonality, sustainability and stewardship.

Sunny Working Kitchen with Plenty of Elbow Room
The cooking school is 1200 square feet, with four comfortable workstations for hands-on classes. For demonstration classes, two flat screens linked to adjustable cameras provide a close-up look, and comfortable tables and chairs accommodate the students. There is a maximum capacity of 20 people in the hands-on classes and 30 in the demonstration classes.

Fully Stocked with Professional Equipment
The kitchen is equipped with two powerful Jade ranges with 10 burners and two state-of-the-art Electrolux ovens. Exquisite Shun knives and cooking equipment by Mauviel, Emile Henry, Rosle and Staub are available to cook any dish desired. Country wood tables and Heath Ware make for a beautiful dining experience when the meal is ready.

Kelsie Kerr – Cooking School Director
Kelsie Kerr is a passionate chef and teacher. Over the past 20 years she has contributed to the success of many well-known restaurants in the Bay Area, most recently as the chef of Chez Panisse restaurant. She collaborated with Alice Waters on her latest book, The Art of Simple Food. Kelsie operated an intimate cooking school in her home, which received rave reviews from students and media alike.
