"The cool grey city of love." — George Sterling
Euan Taylor joined the Cavallo Point team as General Manager in late November 2011. He has been in the hospitality industry for about 20 years, managing leading luxury properties in the U.S. (California, Hawaii, Miami and Chicago) and the U.K. (London and Scotland).
Born in Scotland and raised in England, Euan was educated in London and France. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel & Catering Administration from Middlesex University in London, after gaining work experience in the kitchen of a Michelin-star restaurant in L'Epine, in the Champagne region of France.
After graduation, he began a five-property career with Four Seasons, learning the art and skill of the hospitality industry. In the following years, Euan ascended management ranks, acquiring diverse experience at five-diamond resorts for Starwood's Luxury Collection, St. Regis, Mandarin Oriental, Fairmont and JW Marriott.
Euan came to the Bay Area for the first time five years ago. Since then he has worked in general management positions for Hotel Shattuck Plaza, an upscale boutique hotel in Berkeley, and Hotel Vitale, a four-star Joie de Vivre hotel in San Francisco.
Euan discovered the town of Sausalito by chance, thanks to technology. Arriving in the Bay Area and searching on Google for rental homes that were "Victorian and Charming," he made his first visit to a cottage in Sausalito's banana belt, which proved to be ideal. Since finding Sausalito by happenstance – a place he calls "a modern Riviera" – Euan, his wife and two Border Collies felt immediately at home and have never left.
According to Euan, the town and area are ideally suited to his athletic interests (sailing, hiking and biking), his passion for hospitality ("having great experiences, whether visiting or working"), and now his excitement about Cavallo Point ("an authentically natural and world-class property that values local community and the spirit of the Bay Area"). Euan is actively engaged in the community, as a member of both Sausalito Lions Club and the Sausalito Yacht Club, and as a supporter of the Marine Mammal Center.
As a result, one is sure to see Euan out and about, both around Cavallo Point and around town. With an eye on excellence, he says his primary focus at Cavallo Point "is to develop the service experience so that we provide fond memories" throughout a guest's stay or visit – whether at Murray Circle or Farley Bar, the spa, cooking school, an environmental conference at the Institute, or just relaxing in an inviting room in front of a cozy fire.
When you see Euan, he invites you to please say hello (it's "YOU-an") and introduce yourself!
