Brendan Carlin, General Manager

 

Brendan Carlin joined the Cavallo Point team as General Manager in early November 2014. He has been in the hospitality industry for 20 years, managing elite luxury lifestyle hotels throughout the U.S., including California, Colorado, Texas, Hawaii and Florida.

Born in Mississippi, Brendan was raised around the country and around the world. His father, a Naval intelligence officer, moved the family throughout Brendan's early years to accommodate his military career. Brendan’s peripatetic youth included stays in Boston, Virginia, Monterey, Japan, Hawaii, Greece and Italy. After attending high school in Virginia, he remained there for college, studying accounting at Radford University, then liberal arts and science at Virginia Tech, with a concentration in English, political science and communications. More recently, he furthered his education with a Butler certification from Magnum Butlers and a first level sommelier certification.

Brendan began his hospitality career in Hawaii, working in positions of increasing responsibility at leading Maui resorts. There he began his long association with Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Resorts, working at leading properties in Kapalua; Rancho Mirage, California; and Sarasota, Florida. Subsequently, for the next decade, he held top general management positions at luxury properties with restaurant and banquet operations, spa and/or retail operations; these included The Mosaic Hotel Beverly Hills, Hotel Jerome in Aspen, and The Joule in Dallas. Most recently, he served as a consultant to assist in the planning and development of a luxury hotel and residential tower in the Downtown Dallas Arts District.

Throughout his extensive hospitality career, Brendan has developed expertise managing diverse hotel areas, including rooms, food & beverage, spa and retail operations. He also has proven skills in sales, marketing and public relations; leading teams to achieve excellence; and managing properties to attain revenue results and guest satisfaction.

On a personal level, Brendan is very pleased to re-establish roots in California. He finds Cavallo Point’s location in Sausalito to be ideal – close to San Francisco, but not in it; near the water; peaceful and serene; easily accessible to the wine country. “Sausalito is a great little seaside town,” Brendan says. “It has a very European feel, which happily calls back to my time spent there.” Passionate about food and wine – and related TV cooking shows – he is delighted to live now in Northern California, with its access to fresh ingredients, abundant seafood, and people who value these fortuitous advantages as much as he does.

Regarding Cavallo Point, Brendan appreciates that it is a hotel of the community, set within vast national parklands that make its natural beauty and proud history accessible to everyone. For those who wish to enjoy the lodge and its amenities, his goal is to provide a luxury experience that gives guests and visitors what they want, when they want it.

“I see my role as host. Envisioning this is my home, I want to offer seamless service from start to finish and make sure every component is flawless during each guest’s stay.”
