About the Program
Join Joanne Weir, a James Beard Award-winning cookbook author, cooking teacher and television personality in a five-day immersion of food and wine. Joanne loves to share her passion of the kitchen, including her extensive background in food theory, technique and, in particular, Mediterranean cuisine. You will be cooking out of Joanne's newly-released cookbook: "Wine Country Cooking." Each day you learn a variety of cooking techniques for soufflé, pasta, pizza and more, while preparing a delicious meal to eat together. Seminars and tastings from local wine country vintners complement each day.

Start each morning with a buffet breakfast * Gather in the Cavallo Point Cooking School for a hands-on cooking demonstration, including meals such as arugula and bruschetta salad, goat cheese and roasted garlic soufflé and 10-minute pizza with wilted escarole * Feast on the fruits of your labors for lunch * Each day, learn from a different vintner from Sonoma or Napa who joins the class for an expert presentation and guided tasting * Enjoy free time each afternoon to take in a massage at the Healing Arts Center & Spa, bicycle across the Golden Gate Bridge on a guided tour, or hike the National Park trails* Book dinner in Murray Circle or at a local restaurant

Bio
Joanne Weir is a teacher, chef, television host and James Beard award-winning cookbook author of over a dozen popular titles, including Weir Cooking: Recipes from the Wine Country. Her PBS cooking series, Joanne Weir's Cooking Class, takes place in her professional home kitchen in San Francisco. As the first recipient of the Julia Child Cooking Teacher Award of Excellence, Joanne cooks from a tradition that has been passed down for the last four generations in her family. She's worked under Alice Waters at Chez Panisse, but her ultimate calling has been in teaching.
