Fort Baker Community Celebration

Wednesday, August 3rd

In partnership with the Bay Area Discovery Museum and the Parks Conservancy, we invite you to celebrate the National Park Service Centennial with an array of activities including a barbecue, historic property tours, free admission to the Bay Area Discovery Museum, a special presentation by renowned photographer and filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg and more.

with Guest Speaker Louie Schwartzberg

We’re honored to be joined by award-winning producer, director and cinematographer Louie Schwartzberg for a special presentation followed by a Q&A session and signing of his book Mindful Intentions. Schwartzberg is a visual artist, telling stories that celebrate life and reveal the mysteries and wisdom of nature, people and places. A coveted speaker worldwide, Schwartzberg is active in the TED community, as two of his talks are among the top-watched TED talks of all time.

Celebrate the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary with delicious barbecue, live music and incredible views of downtown San Francisco and the Golden Gate.

Cavallo Point Historic Tours and Book Signing

Join Kristin Baron and John Martini, co-authors of Fort Baker Through The Years: The Post, The Park, The Lodge as they lead fascinating historical tours through the Cavallo Point property. Explore our wondrous setting while learning about the history of our Fort Baker national park location. Following the tours, Kristin and John will sign copies of their book.

Live Music Mondays at Farley Bar

Join us every Monday through Friday in Farley Bar from 6:00 – 9:00 pm for an evening full of vibrant live music. Complimentary – all are welcome!


Lectures at Cavallo Point

Throughout the year, Cavallo Point organizes engaging lectures for guests and the local community. Many are developed in conjunction with the Institute at the Golden Gate. The Institute, a landmark program of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy in partnership with the National Park Service, brings environmental programming to Cavallo Point and other venues.


Activities at Cavallo Point Lodge

We want guests at Cavallo Point to make the most of nearby riches that add so much to the San Francisco Bay Area. To that end, we offer diverse activities each day.

Complimentary Activities at Cavallo Point:

  • Hikes & walks
  • Guided Cavallo Point walkabout (learn the history of Fort Baker)
  • Guided hike under the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Morning yoga (complimentary to hotel guests, passes available for visitors)

In addition to our regular activities, listen to engaging lectures by noted guest speakers; fly a kite on the parade ground; or attend Tuesdays to Your Health, a monthly lecture series hosted by resident holistic doctor Brad Jacobs. With our splendid setting and diverse array of activities onsite, you needn't go far to have the vacation of a lifetime.
